FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Kids Culinary School versus Bake Austin. I am confused! Can you explain?
Great news! We decided to add another layer to our business, so we are introducing Kids Culinary School by Bake Austin - as our virtual culinary school. Everything you know and love about Bake Austin, with the added online enhancements including printable shopping list, recipes, and video tutorials, and anyone in the world can become part of the fun!
What is Dinner club?
Oh we are so excited about Dinner Club! Dinner Club is a two and half to three hour online class where the kids and I make dinner together. Yes, that means you don't have to cook! They will make the food and I strongly encourage cleaning up as well! Maybe you will have to put the plates away after dinner, but everything else will be done!
What is Teen Club?
Teen Club is basically Dinner Club just a little more elevated to suit the teens brain.
How do I sign up?
You can sign up by clicking on the link. It will bring you to our new registration page where you enter your information and then you are ready to go!
What will we be doing?
Each camp is a little different, but in a nutshell we will measure everything out together, prepare foods for cooking, like cutting vegetables and we will cook food and or bake together.
Do you give us an ingredients list ahead of time so we can do the shopping and preparing the kitchen?
Yes, we wills end out the ingredient list and recipes two weeks prior to the class.
Where can I find the ingredient list?
The ingredient list and recipes will be provided to you two weeks prior to class. So you have plenty of time to prepare for the class.
I have two kids, would we register each or register just one?
We understand that we are all stuck at home now, and hence we are offering our classes to the whole family. Siblings are free! *Please note that classes that we are doing as a collaboration with the Austin Tinkering School are not subject to the free sibling discount!
Speaking of siblings: Can my kids log in on separate computers?
To help us keep track of all the kids and make sure everything runs smoothly, we ask families to only log in with ONE device. Thank you for understanding.
Will you provide us with the recipes, shopping list and tool list before classes?
Yes! All of the recipes, shopping lists and tool lists will be sent to you two weeks prior to class.
My child is younger than the suggested age range, can we still participate?
in a way, yes! But we do ask parents to be there and be the assistant. We move quite fast and I can not hold up the entire class if you enroll a child that is below the recommended age. If your child is younger and/or has learning disabilities please help them be successful. We try to keep our classes running smoothly and keep them around two and half & three hours. So everyone needs to stay focused. But we have had success with younger kids.
What age range is this geared toward?
That depends on each camp. Ages are listed below each camp. We have all age groups between 9-16 and its been really cool how the kids help each other out. We are becoming virtual friends.
How long are the classes?
Each class we will spend 2 1/2 to 3 hours together!
What if I miss a live class?
If you miss a live class we will email a recorded video of the zoom to you.
What if I have questions after class, or if I want to share a photo?
Feel free to share any photos with us on our social media, if you have questions feel free to email us. A safe place to ask questions, share photos, celebrate successes and just a nice place to check in once in a while, is our private FB group.
What if live classes are not what we are looking for? Can we just get pre-recorded videos with recipes and PDFs to print out?
I am so glad you asked! We are currently working on pre-recording individual classes for just that purpose. Each of these classes will have printable PDFs with shopping lists, tools needed and of course the recipes.
