Join Bake Austin this holiday season and learn how to bake internationally coveted German christmas cookies. Not only will you leave the class with my own Oma's recipes and the knowledge to recreate these delicious and unique cookies for years to come, you'll bring home two tins of fresh baked cookies to share with family. Lebkuchen: These famous cookies are similar to Gingerbread cookies or "honey cakes" can be traced back to the Egyptians, Greeks and Romans. Honey was used as a sweetener which was believed to be a gift of the deities and had magical healing powers powers. (according to wikipedia)
The monks in Franconia, Germany invented these in the 13th century.
In this class we will be making a few variations of these delightful cookie! Glazed with sugar, chocolate or left plain, either way you prefer it this is a delicious cookie!
