These cookies are super easy to create and are a cute gift to pass on or to just eat with a nice cup of tea or hot chocolate.... brrrrr here in Texas winter has just come again!
So while you are cooped up inside this weekend, why not let the kids get creative!
Step 1:Make a batch of sugar cookies, using your favorite recipe, or ours (see below).
Or just pick up a roll of sugar cookies int he cold section of your grocery store. |
Step 2:Using food coloring and a little powdered sugar dye fondant to the desired colors. We like to use homemade fondant (here is the link to our Youtube video on how to make homemade fondant).
Or just buy a package at your grocery store (in the baking isle- by the sprinkles) or use chewy candy like Starburst. |
Step 3:Roll fondant out and using heart shaped cookie cutters (the same or smaller then the cookies) cut hearts out and paint with food coloring and a clean brush.
"Hug" "smile" "love" "friends forever" "XOXO" etc. Make sure you protect your work surface with parchment paper or wax paper. For younger kids you can purchase foodsafe markers. |
Step 4:Glue fondant hearts on the cookies with a paste made of powdered sugar and water.
Viola! And if you want to knock it out of the park, bag each cookie in a clear bag! XOXO |
